Śāntākāraṃ Bhujagaśayanaṃ Padmanābhaṃ Sureśaṃ Viśvādhāraṃ Gaganasadṛśaṃ Meghavarṇaṃ Śubhāṅgam | Lakṣmīkāntaṃ Kamalanayanaṃ Yogibhirdhyānagamyaṃ Vande Viṣṇuṃ Bhavabhayaharaṃ Sarvalokaikanātham ||1||

I bow to Vishnu, the one Lord of all worlds, who is of a peaceful form, who lies on the serpent, from whose navel springs the lotus, the Lord of gods, the support of the universe, like the sky, of the color of clouds, with auspicious limbs, the consort of Lakshmi, the lotus-eyed one, accessible to yogis through meditation, the remover of the fear of worldly existence.

Auṣadhe cintayedviṣṇuṃ bhojane ca janārdanam | Śayane padmanābhaṃ ca vivāhe ca prajāpatim ||2||

One should think of Vishnu while taking medicine, Janardana while eating, Padmanabha while sleeping, and Prajapati during marriage. (2)

Yuddhe cakradharaṃ devaṃ pravāse ca trivikramam | Nārāyaṇaṃ tanutyāge śrīdharaṃ priyasaṅgame ||3||

One should think of the god Chakradhara during battle, Trivikrama during a journey, Narayana at the time of leaving the body, and Sridhara upon meeting a loved one. (3)

4

Duḥsvapne smara govindaṃ saṅkaṭe madhusūdanam | Kānane nārasiṃhaṃ ca pāvake jalaśāyinam ||4||

Remember Govinda during a bad dream, Madhusudana in times of trouble, Narasimha in the forest, and Jalashayinam (one who lies on water) in a fire. (4)

5

Jalamadhye varāhaṃ ca parvate raghunandanam | Gamane vāmanaṃ caiva sarvakāryeṣu mādhavam ||5||

Think of Varaha in the middle of water, Raghunandana (Rama) on a mountain, Vamana while walking, and Madhava in all activities. (5)
